Speech Therapy
We continued to use the services of ECU Speech Therapy students in Semesters 1 and 2 and they conducted assessments and small group and individual therapy programs. In Term 4, the students screened our Kindy students, in preparation for 2020. The ECU Speech Therapy program continued, with Speech Pathology students working under the supervision of an ECU Clinical Educator in Speech Pathology. The services included assessments, language and literacy groups, individual sessions and teacher professional development.
WGPS has a partnership with ECU to deliver a speech therapy program.Students from Kindergarten to Year 3 are selected through a teacher referral process. Under the supervision of an ECU Clinical Educator in Speech Pathology, services include full speech assessment and report, individual therapy sessions, language groups, and whole class language group speech activities and games. The program also benefits teachers by giving them the opportunity to have regular communication involving the students’ progress, appropriate strategies and classroom ideas and resources.
